In Memory

23:28 Oct 05 2009
Times Read: 562

I wrote this a few years back in my junior year in remembrance of my grandfather that passed away just after 9/11. It happened to come to me then on his birthday (which is today).

~In Memory~

Your laughter that filled the air once

is silenced and gone.

It's lonesome at times

not being able to talk to you.

But I do remember the good times

when I used to come over and visit.

Always watching television and

doing something with your cross-stitching.

I carry that on like you taught me how to do.

An art in itself that others can enjoy too.

So here's to you on your special day back in 1932

when you came into this world.

Happy birthday Grandpa.

Little Silver Ring

01:11 Oct 02 2009
Times Read: 563

Wrote this back I believe my junior year of high school for creative writing class about something special to us. I chose my grandmother's wedding ring my mother gave me to hang onto a few years earlier when I was still in middle school. Eighth grade I believe.

~Little Silver Ring~

I have many things

that are special to me.

But this small silver ring

is by far the best

because it symbolizes more

than most of the rest.

It’s just a small ring

but it belonged to my grandmother

who died when I was only seven.

Just a wedding ring that I got to keep

that I value so much.

Small silver ring turning to a gold

color from being pretty old.

It’s a small circle that doesn’t end

like a circle of my special family

and my special friends.

Voices Around School

01:07 Oct 02 2009
Times Read: 564

We had to do a poem with just listening to conversations around school, at the store, at home, or wherever else and see what we came up with for creative writing class. This was my senior year of high school a couple of years ago.

~Voices Around School~

“I think I should give up caffeine. If I don't get any I get headaches.”

“I'm so out of it, sorry. I'm just so tired.”

“Why me?”

“Why do I get volunteered for everything?”

“You spend more time arguing than just doing it.”

“Fine I'll go.”

“Did you hear? It's supposed to be around fifty next week!”

“Yes but we might get another cold front afterwards.”

“No! I want Spring!”

“Will you open your books and turn to chapter six over glaciers?”

“What do you think you're doing?”

“We should go to a party this weekend.”

“I need to know twelve equations for a math quiz on Friday. I need to study.”

“It's so beautiful outside today!”

“Stop poking me.”

Special

01:04 Oct 02 2009
Times Read: 565

Something I wrote a few years back in creative writing class of what was special to me at that time. I think I might re-write what is now special that I carry now.

~~Special~~

I carry many things whether

physical or emotional.

Pens and pencils with

notebooks and paper

to write down special things,

stories,

RPG’s.

Novels or manga to read.

Cd player and cd’s

for my music.

Wallet for my ID and cards

with some money also.

Key to my house,

hackey sack to play,

phone for talking to friends,

lip gloss and a friend’s hair tie,

and a small deck of cards.

My grandma’s wedding ring even,

and my ankh and cartouche necklace too.

Memories of my friends and family

whether good or bad I carry too.

Ideas for stories and poems and RPG’s

swirl around in my mind as well.

My love for my friends and family

encircle the memories of them too.

Things I’ve learned in school and in life

swirl about as well.

Mother In the Garden

01:01 Oct 02 2009
Times Read: 566

Something I wrote from creative writing class a few years back about my mother and her love for gardening.

~Mother in the Garden~

At the front of the house, under the mid-morning sun comes from the east, barely reaching over the house to where you stand with your bright golden blonde hair shining. The birds chirp and chatter under the already warm bright blue sky of summer. There's still some shade over the garden in the back where you stand with all the green plants surrounding you. Bright red tomatoes peer from under their green leafy vines as you tie them to the wire cages so they don't fall over. Soft green peppers also peer from their cages and several seem to smile as they turn purple at you. “Almost ready to pick,” they hint with the reddening of the salsa peppers, “almost ready to make your salsa.”
